For 5.0 Coyote Mustang owners, there has never been a real need to install set of camshafts. Not only are they expensive, but they give minimal horsepower gains, and most importantly, due to the computer tuning; the Ford Ti-VCT allows for tuning in more overlap but that can have a negative effect on the performance of the engine, after installation the end result is a barely noticeable loopy sound. A sound that most want to hear after making such a massive investment.
But now there’s a solution the lopeless 5.0 Engines. COMP Cams has created a new version of camshafts dubbed the Thumper series, that offer an unmistakable sound of a lopey idle coming from a Ford Coyote 5.0L engine. The COMP Cams Thumpr camshaft series is available for 2011-14 and 2015-17 Ford Coyote 5.0L engines and not only achieves an even more aggressive lope sound but also increases duration with optimized intake and exhaust lobes, offering un-compromised power gains in the mid to upper RPM range without the need to upgrade valve springs.
The average set retails for around $1,500 and for more information about the new COMP Cams Thumpr series available at American Muscle, click here
