Giulia Chats About Her Love of Restoring Cars

We had an opportunity to chat "In the Garage" with Giullia L. who is very fluent into restoring classic Fox Mustangs.  With us, she indulges a bit about her current project and her restoration page.

How did you first get into cars?

My dad was a mechanic in the Navy for 22 years and has been showing me everything and teaching me everything since I was a baby.

What was your first car?

My first car was a 1998 Ford Escort Sport. Then I was given a 2002 Mini Cooper S and I tuned her up really good. She was dyno'd at 207 horses!

What are your current cars?

I drive an 2002 Mustang GT for now. She's getting a complete make over soon. We have a Saleen kit for her and we will eventually do a 5.0 Coyote swap! My current restoration project is my beautiful 1979 Mustang Pace Car. She was in the Indy 500 twice. I have the receipt and pictures. She has a 302ci motor with a 600 cfm four barrel Edelbrock carb in her. She also has the original Recaro seats and is all original except for the engine and suspension.

Have you ever entered your cars in any shows?

I was given best looking import at a car show 2 years ago for my 02 Mini. I will be putting my 79 in contests when she is finished.

The '79 is a huge project. What restorations have you done so far?

We've cut out and fixed the floor pans, plus swapped the front suspension out. I replaced the stock Ford intake with an Edelbrock high performance intake, swapped the Holley carb with the Edelbrock carb, and are currently in the process of swapping the brake master cylinder. Also we are going to swap the rear axle with an 8.8 with 3.73 gears, we also have a Bassani h-pipe to put on her!

Do you have a favorite brand or a particular product you love to use?

Edelbrock is one of my favorite brands. Latemodelresto has also been very helpful in restoring my Mustang.

Aside from the restoration, what else is in your future?

I am in the process of trying to find a rear hatch louvre for the '79 Mustang, I want to eventually do a 5.0 Coyote swap when I get the money, swap the 8.8" with a Cobra IRS, and finally get a 6-speed for her!

Sounds like an awesome plan!  So is there anything else you want to leave us with?

Restoring cars is my passion. I run a restoration Instagram page because I love helping people fix old rides and make them beautiful again. It's the best feeling in the world to be able to help and show off how hard people have worked to get their rides back on the roads!
