So tell us, how did you first become interested in cars?
This is typically the first question I get asked in any automotive conversation, and to be honest, there isn't just one significant moment. In fact, I grew up as a tomboy with mostly guy friends. We started by playing with our Tonka trucks in the mud we made out of the flower beds in our front yards (Mom was glad when this phase ended), to racing MidNight Club on PS2, to putting playing cards into the spokes of our bike wheels. It was inevitable that getting into the car scene was part of the evolution.
Having always been an enthusiast, moving to Indiana is what really drove me deep into the automotive world. I was quickly introduced to the car group that represented Bloomington, IN called B-Crew. These guys became my family. Words can not describe the bond we share. At this point in my life, I had never felt so at home. And cars is what brought us all together.
What was your first car?
My first car was a riced-out 2005 Infiniti G35 6mt. Custom paint, full Seibon Carbon Fiber body kit, Eibach Springs, 3 Piece Maya Wheels, full HKS Exhaust and light bolt-ons. And let me tell you, at the time, I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.
That was cool! So now what’s your current car?
I daily a 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon 5MT, and yes, the .5L and VF-39T makes a big difference haha. She's wrapped by Wraptilian in HEXIS material, Avant Garde Wheels courtesy of VIBE Motorsports, Falken Azenis Tires, Aligned by Indotech Motorsports, light Fabrication work by Blochworx Performance and a Borla Catback. Being a daily, I plan to keep the motor stock. Plan....
My gold digger is a 1995 (Zenki) Nissan 240sx Ls1/ T56 swap. She's going through some changes right now so a parts list is not available, but be sure to keep an eye out on my Instagram page for any up to date news!
We noticed you're involved in racing, how's that been going?
I started racing in SCCA back with the G35, taking home a handful of First Place trophies in the Solo ll Series. Aside from Show Awards, I most recently podiumed at the Extreme Speeds Track Event on Streets of Willow, in the BMW Modified Class driving a Team Member's E36.
Do you regularly attend events?
Yes! I'm very active in the car scene. You can catch me at just about any show- I usually post online where I am going to be ahead of time, too.
So what do you feel is your best experience with your cars?
Haha! Well I'd hate to incriminate myself . . . hmmm that's a tough one. When I'm not worried about something failing, driving the 240 is definitely my favorite experience.
Jeremy Clarkson phrased it perfectly when he said, "It’s what non-car people don’t get. They see all cars as just a ton and a half, two tons of wires, glass, metal, and rubber, and that’s all they see. People like you or I know we have an unshakable belief that cars are living entities… You can develop a relationship with a car and that’s what non-car people don’t get… When something has foibles and won’t handle properly, that gives it a particularly human quality because it makes mistakes, and that’s how you can build a relationship with a car that other people won’t get."
That's a great quote! So what are your future plans?
It's hard to say where I'm going to be in a year from now, five years from now or even next week. My current goal is to finish building the 240 into a dedicated track car. After that, off the top of my head, I can think of a few cars I'd like to build (FC/FD RX7, S13/S15, Datsun 260z/510, R34 if it ever becomes legal, MK4 Supra, E30 M3, I mean the list just goes on...). All in all, this is definitely a big part of my life and the lifestyle I choose to live.
